At 16 years of age

You can ride up to a 49cc restricted moped with L plates, a provisional licence and a valid CBT certificate.

At 17 years of age

You can ride up to a 125cc motorcycle or moped with L plates, a provisional licence and a CBT Certificate. When you pass both the Module 1 and Module 2 practical tests on a 125cc you can ride up to a 33BHP (25KW) motorcycle, carry pillions, use motorways and remove your L plates. After two years your licence is automatically upgraded to ride any size machine.

At 21+ years of age

After passing the CBT, theory test and both practical tests conducted on a bike greater than 35KW, you can ride any motorcycle without L plates, carry pillions and use motorways.
